About Me

I am a software engineer with experience in web development, systems design, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML. My career has been focused on solutions in biotech related to research and data strategy. Projects that motivate me are those which leverage modern data analysis and software engineering techniques to increase efficiency and accuracy, regardless of the field they come from. I believe my strongest skill is being able to decipher complex problems and communicate solutions to a wide range of stakeholders.

After graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, I worked at BioFire Diagnostics as part of the R&D support team. During this time, I quickly progressed and became a tech lead. I was responsible for onboarding new team members and improving our interview process to address diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, I formed user needs and architecture requirements for a product cataloging system, a genetic matching pipeline, and a proprietary firmware IDE.

I then moved to NeuroPace Inc as part of the data strategy team. I was responsible for managing research applications and data sharing pipelines. I also contributed to a migration to the cloud and completed my AWS Associate Solutions Architect Certification. Being part of a small team I learned to drive the product pipeline end to end.

I am now at Recursion on one of the early drug discovery teams. We sit at the beginning of the pipeline, working to identify novel or best in class drug targets and initiating compounds. As a Software Engineer, I am responsible for designing robust systems to aide drug discovery scientists in their pursuit to improve patients' lives. This entails connecting large datasets, tracking decision making, logging project statuses, and incorporating AI platforms into daily workflows. Much of my contribution is providing a communication bridge between scientific collaborators and my technical teammates. I strive to simplify and modularize our most commonly used analyses into reusable and robust tools.

Outside of work, I spend my time as far away from the computer screen as I can. You can typically find me in the mountains skiing, biking, fishing, camping, or some variation of those. This often leads me somewhere in the Wasatch front, but I am always looking to travel to new places. I also enjoy reading sci-fi, fantasy, and political philosophy.
